Are Fertility Drugs Useful?
Fertility
Women who are unable to conceive naturally use fertility drugs to aid in conception. There are various drugs available to increase the chances of conception that can be discussed with the physician that will produce a pregnancy and the bundle of joy every woman desires.
Due to the differences in a womans natural system the various types of drugs will work for each woman differently or even not at all. The physician will be able to determine the right medication for individuals based on their personal chemistry and body makeup. Doctors specializing in infertility know the newest medications available to increase the possibilities of pregnancies for women.
Some of the drugs currently used for fertility are Follistim Clomid Repronex Brayelle Menopur Gonal-F Lupron Metformin hCG and Progesterone. All of these drugs are hormone enhancers and stimulate the ovaries to produce/release eggs into the womans system. When the eggs are released into the system the chances of pregnancy are tremendously increased. The side effect of the drugs is the potential for multiple births due the drugs causing the ovaries to release more than one egg.
Taking the medications is the first phase of conception. The physician will monitor the progress of the woman to see how she is responding to the drugs including any side effects that may be unhealthy or hazardous. Constant office visits and lab work will be performed as part of the process as well as the possibility of journal keeping by the woman for any sexual activity and health related issues.
Sometimes the infertility issue is with the man. They may experience a low sperm count resulting in lack of conception. There are also drugs to help with this medical condition as well as natural alternatives. The physicians will perform tests on the male to diagnose the sperm count as part of the infertility treatment. This is to rule out all possible causes for the lack of conception.
